Equine and Cattle Reproduction
Ovary scanning in cattle and equine applications requires a robust system. The probe should be a fully sealed rectal probe, ideally covering the frequency range of 5.0-9.0MHz, providing high resolution with a maximum penetration capability of 10cm. The probe should provide a 60mm wide image to allow full view of a single ovary without panning. For performing later pregnancy diagnosis a deeper penetration will be required.
The ability to store images whilst on the farm is becoming essential; allowing the vet to further diagnose and produce video prints in the safe environment of the surgery.
Portability is also a major consideration when using a scanner on a farm or stud. Size, weight and voltage requirements are all important factors. The ability to power the scanner from a battery source may be required in some situations.
