VetPD: Sports Horse Medicine & Orthopedics

This 2-day course on the topic of equine sports medicine & orthopaedics will take place in South Australia on the 14th & 15th of November 2019 – to coincide with the Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event.

- Overground Endoscopy
- Objective Lameness Measurement in Sports Horses
- Haematology & Biochemistry in Sports Horses
- Lameness Examination – When things get complicated;
- Which Heart Murmurs are relevant in Sports Horses
- Exercise Testing – Identifying Subclinical Problems in Sports Horses
- Contentious Issues in Sports Horse Pre-Purchase Examination
- Feeding the Competitive Athlete
- Practical Equine Rehabilitation
Practical Sessions:
7 hours of practical sessions will allow attendees to further their practical skills on live horses in small groups (3-5 attendees per group)

- Static Upper Respiratory Endoscopy
- Overground Endoscopy
- Objective Lameness Measurement as part of the Pre-Purchase Exam
- Exercise Testing – ECG, Lactate Measurements etc.
