CANCELLED – VetPD: Foot Lameness & Podiatry – 2-Day Practical Course AUS

This 2-day practical course has been developed for equine veterinarians who already have experience with lameness investigations, and who are looking to hear the latest ideas on podiatry and foot lameness (along with imaging of the foot and pastern, an area which has undergone considerable development in the last few years.
The lectures provide a critical review of the current thinking on functional anatomy, biomechanics, physical examination, imaging (X-ray and Ultrasound), specific foot problems and wounds, and therapeutic shoeing. 7 hours of practical sessions give attendees plenty of opportunity to put theory into practice on live horses and limb specimens in small groups and to discuss course topics, and their own difficult cases, with the experts. Attendees will rotate through the following practical workshops: subjective and objective foot conformation assessment; local anaesthetic techniques in the distal limb; foot casting techniques; radiography of the foot & pastern; ultrasound of the heel bulb and pastern; applying wooden shoes (for laminitis).
